MANUFACTURERS WARRANTY

All manufacturers' warranties apply to the original owner only; proof of purchase is often required and in some cases (particularly Bianchi)wil be demanded before the claim will be considered. Customers should keep a copy of their original receipt. No manufacturer covers our (The Missing Link's) labor charges. Labor charges to strip and rebuild are typically $125.00. Customers can save money by removing parts themselves and giving us as little of the frame as possible(for example; frame only or fork only). typically labor charges for bottom bracket and headset removal and installation is $25.00-$40.00. Replacement frames often need new parts, such as seatpost, bb, headset, cables and housing. The customer is responsible for buying these parts. Many manufacturers offer "crash replacement" frames at a discount. If the replacement cost of a warranty bike is low, often our shop labor charges involved in rebuilding old parts onto a new frame make the cost prohibitive compared to taking the crashed frame credit and buying a new bike. Below are exerpts from manufacturers' full warranties.

SURLY

"The Surly Cross-Check is guaranteed to be free from manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase. What this means is that if we screwed up something in the manufacturing process that resulted in the premature failure of your frameset, or if any of the parts we spec'd on he bike are determined by the original supplier to be defective, we'll fix or replace the offending frame, fork or part at our discretion. This warranty is for the original buyer of the bike and is not transferable. It should go without saying that we won't even consider your warranty problem without a dated proof-of-purchase and a serial number, or if the bike was not assembled by a qualified, independent bicycle dealer.
:...Sorry, the paint job isn't covered..."
